National Team players celebrated in Australia
On Sunday, 28th May 2023 the South Sudanese community in Australia put on a celebration event for their national team players.
Led by Deacon George Both, Manyang Berberi and other community leaders, a celebration dinner was organized to appreciate the South Sudanese Men’s National Team players from Australia, who have contributed to South Sudan’s qualification to the FIBA World Cup 2023
This by extension was a celebration of the SSD Men’s National Team, all their players over the years, the management and the entire South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) led by President Luol Deng.
The Senior Women’s Team based in Australia were also celebrated for competing in Zone 5 AfroBasket 2021 and 2023 Qualifiers.

The celebration dinner was organized by a committee made up of various South Sudanese community organizations, service providers, church leaders, basketball organizations, community leaders and volunteers who are proud of the accomplishment of the South Sudanese Men’s National basketball.
Other players from the South Sudanese Australian community, who have reached the professional level in their sports were also given recognition awards.
The head of the committee was South Sudanese Deacon George Both, chaplain of the Catholic Church to the South Sudanese community.
