World Cup Trophy to visit South Sudan
The South Sudan Basketball Federation is excited to announce that the FIBA World Cup Trophy will be visiting Juba, South Sudan.
Background - In February, 2023, the South Sudan Senior Men’s National Basketball Team qualified to FIBA World Cup 2023, which will be held from August to September later this year in Philippines-Japan-Indonesia.
In April, 2023 the team completed its first ever FIBA World Cup Draw. The Bright Stars were placed in Group B, alongside China, Serbia, and Puerto Rico. The group’s games will be hosted in Manila, Philippines.
FIBA WC Trophy Tour - The FIBA World Cup Trophy is currently touring countries that have qualified and will be visiting Juba on May 29 and May 30.
During its two-day visit, the FIBA World Cup Trophy will be viewed by the youth, sports community, the media and the general public on May 30, 12:00 - 06:00 PM at Nimra 3 Basketball Stadium.
The accomplishments of the Bright Stars have brought great joy and hope to the nation. It is an honor to be able to present the trophy to the people of South Sudan as a memento of the team's journey and the Federation's efforts to represent the country internationally through basketball.
