My comeback season

So this year was not like other years for me. It was obviously my first year back professionally after my injury and pregnancy so we did not see the same Adut from the past!

It was trying mentally and physically. It was also my first year in Israel not playing in a championship series. There was a lot to overcome. Our season in Israel ended earlier than expected. We went through many changes and lost a lot of unnecessary games.

However, My daughter spent the season with me over there, thanks to my cousin coming overseas which was difficult at times but so rewarding to have her by my side to see mommy’s life. She was my biggest cheerleader!

I will say that I am proud of myself. I was able to pull myself out of a bad place last year, bite down and get myself together for the season. I lost over 60lbs last year & honestly this might have been my best year statistically.

With the season ending early in Israel that gave me the opportunity to sign in France. That was absolutely different, the style of play and physicality was very aggressive, but so much more structured so it became a great fit once I got comfortable!

France was different because I came into a situation where I had to help the team not get relegated, along with a couple other other players. They had only won 2 or 3 games all season so we were coming into a tough situation. We still managed to get off to a hot start but the season slipped away in the play downs.

Lastly, I was able to finally step on the court for South Sudan this year. There was so many emotions attached to that. We didn’t get the results we hoped for but we made strides. I’m very happy with how the young girls responded and I’m hopeful of the future.

We have to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day. We are now playing for a spot among the best in the world so It’s going to take some patience and serious development for us to keep climbing, but we’re on the right track. I’m happy to see how many young girls and women are coming into the game of basketball.

Overall, I am happy to have returned to the game in such a quick time frame, I’m grateful for the adversity and obstacles I faced this year. They’ve all grown my game either on the floor or in a leadership capacity.

I’d like to thank everyone who followed my journey and supported me all throughout. See you all in the fall.
