South Sudan victorious over Senegal on third attempt

ALEXANDRIA (Egypt) - It was third time the charm for our Senior Men team who blasted past Senegal to be guaranteed one of the five African spots in the FIBA World Cup 2023.

The game started with both teams making scoring runs but two made free throws by Nuni Omot closed out the first quarter with a 22-21 lead for South Sudan. There was nothing between the two sides with SSD keeping a narrow half-time lead of 45-44.

Senegal second half adjustments were on their defense at it startled South Sudan as they took their biggest lead of 11 points (48-59) but South Sudan responded with Bul Kuol and Nuni Omot to close third quarter just behind 59-63.

It was Nuni Omot again who was scoring at will and Bul Kuol back to back 3-pointers pushed the lead to 77-67 where Senegal couldn't recover and SSD made history by qualifying for the World Cup.
