Alberto Antuna named Head Coach of Women’s Team

The South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) is excited to announce the appointment of Alberto Antuna as the Head Coach of the National Women’s Team. Alberto brings many years of experience to the team. He joins after coaching the past few years in Germany, Spain and Mexico. In addition, Alberto carries a remarkable profile in Africa, having led national teams from Uganda in Afrobasket 2023, and Senegal for Olympic Qualification in 2024.

His experience in Africa, across different regions and at high-level continental FIBA stages, gives me great confidence in his ability to develop the women's team. “My vision is to create an identity, try to recruit the best players who represent SSD around the world and thus compete at the highest level and try to achieve, for the first time in history, the 2025 Women's Afrobasket.”

The Federation welcomes Alberto Antuna to the team and looks forward to the women’s team beginning a brand new chapter in the upcoming Zone 5 tournament scheduled for 3-8 Feburary in Cairo, Egypt.
