Deing signs with Cape Town Tigers
Achieving the dream of playing professionally is a goal of many athletes and for one former Dodge City Conquistador men's basketball player that dream has come true as he's signed professionally to play overseas.
Dhieu Deing who suited up for the Conqs during the 2020-21 season has signed his first pro contract with the Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League.
Deing during his season with the Conqs helped the team post a 14-9 record in 2020-21 playing in all 22 games with 21 starts. He was second on the team in scoring with 19.1 points per game while adding 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. He earned honorable mention All-Conference honors.
After his lone season at Dodge City, Deing transferred to the University of Texas-San Antonio where he played the 2021-22 season suiting up for 25 games with 13 starts. He averaged 13.6 points per game along with 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
He also played for South Sudan in the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket tournament playing in four games averaging 11.3 points per game along with 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
The BAL is a partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA). The league features 12 club teams from across Africa.
